A gunman's rampage through southeastern Alabama killed nine people Tuesday before he fatally shot himself, the Alabama Department of Public Safety told FOX News.
Police told FOX News that the rampage started at about 4:05 p.m. CDT in Samson, a small town in southeastern Alabama just north of the Florida panhandle.
Samson police dispatcher Jim Stromenger told the Associated Press that said the gunman, who has yet to be publicly identified, started firing at a gas station in Samson, shooting a woman there, and then went to a home where he shot five people.
Two fatalities were reported in nearby Kinston.
Stromenger said the man then drove east to Geneva and continued his shooting rampage there.
The gunman also shot at pursuing officers as he fled, WTVY reported on its Web site, though he eventually killed himself after being pursued by police, Samson police told FOX News Radio
